2023, Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays from the Vogel family

We cannot believe another whole year has passed. Hopefully your year has been a wonderful adventure as ours has been. Even though we’re at the end of 2023, there are so many adventures we’ve shared.

Our first adventure this year did end with sadness. We got a puppy! His name was Kevin and he was a husky mix we got from the Tri-County Humane Society. He was such a quick learner and loved cuddles… and my very first known allergy. We were not believing it at first but it wasn’t a joke and instead a wake up call that it was a real thing. The humane society was so wonderful in having to return our new friend. It still broke our hearts. Maybe later on we will find another four-legged family member to bring home again. Probably just more hypoallergenic.

Theodore has gone into his final year of preschool this 2023-24 school year. He is learning all the things he will need to know when he joins kindergarten next year! We’re so proud of how well he is doing and the energy and imagination he has. Also, he will probably have some high anxiety hobbies in the future, like rock climbing or jumping out of planes when he’s all grown up! Or lots of broken bones… fingers crossed for good dreams!

Although, Theodore already suffered his first broken part. He broke his nose at the end of October. We’ve added it to the running list of stitches and a staple he’s already had… ouch!

Leander is officially a first grader now and is so smart! He is bringing home spelling tests and math problems. He can solve word problems and his handwriting abilities are impressive! He loves playing video games that tell stories and is interested in scary things like his dad!

Basil is a Junior in High School and has her own car now. As a licensed driver on the roads, we know she is gonna be alright… better than a lot of other drivers around the area that’s for sure. Pretty soon we will be planning her graduation in 2025. Keep an eye out for future invitations!

Eston and I celebrated 11 years married on July 27th, this year. We took our first official family vacation to Spokane Creek Campgrounds just west of Rapid City, SD for 5 days. We got to see the Black Hills, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and drive on Iron Mountain Road! Did we mention we saw Wall Drug? And the billion road signs leading right to it! The beauty on the western edge of South Dakota is incredible and we will be planning another trip in the future! Our old camper is in great shape for a few more years of fun with it.

We have lost a lot of loved ones over this last year but we keep them in our hearts everyday. Our home is a beacon of the love they had in our hearts and we will never forget them.

Although we have suffered many sad moments this year we still are here together. We hope to spend the last holidays of 2023 with family and friends. Thank you all for being a part of our lives. Every day is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present. We’re happy we get to share ours with yours.
